Audrey James’s sixth graders wanted to explore how different countries use various forms of energy for their community. What the students discovered more enticing was learning about the different kinds of energy used by society for their communities’ needs. The particular kinds of energy sources were accommodating the community’s needs. Each student group explored a specific kind of energy application method and its source.
Understanding what each energy form could provide for the community’s needs is of utmost importance. The types of energy such as hydropower, hydroelectricity, solar, geothermal, and fossil fuels were explored. How the world manages effectively and efficiently their use determines what energy forms are used. Energy transformation will depend upon how much can be used without polluting the environment to serve and benefit the community and communities who use these various forms of energy. Students created PowerPoint presentations to demonstrate their learning experiences.
